Américo Sabino Soares Nascimento, nascido a 02 de Janeiro de 1958, natural de S. Nicolau, fez os seus estudos até à 6ª classe na Vila da Ribeira Brava e os estudos liceais na cidade do Mindelo.
Desde muito cedo destacou-se como activista desportivo, tendo feito um longo percurso nas lides do Desporto, tanto a nível local como nacional. Resumidamente o seu trajecto desportivo:
Professor de Educação Física no Ciclo Preparatório de S. Nicolau de 1977 a 1979, tendo introduzido várias modalidades desportivas no processo de ensino aprendizagem dos alunos de então;
Em Dezembro de 1977 ele e mais outros colegas fundam o Sport Clube Atlético de S. Nicolau. Foi o primeiro jogador, treinador e dirigente desse clube durante vários anos, sendo de destacar a iniciativa da construção da sede do clube em 1987 e nesse mesmo ano ter levado a equipa do Atlético, pela primeira vez na história do futebol em S. Nicolau, à final do campeonato Nacional.
De 1979 a 1984 é licenciado em Educação Física e Desportos pelo Instituto de Cultura Física de Kiev – Ucrânia de 1979 a 1984;
De 1984 a 1988 – Lecciona na Escola do Ensino Básico Complementar de S. Nicolau
Em 1988 é nomeado para coordenar a nível nacional a Educação Física e Desporto Escolar no Ministério da Educação na cidade da Praia
De 1990 a 1991 é designado Director do Gimno Desportivo na cidade da Praia e secretário nacional para do Desporto da JAAC-CV
De 1991 a 1993 é nomeado Director Geral dos Desportos
De 1993 a 2000 é nomeado Director do Desporto Escolar no Ministério da Educação.
Em 2001 é nomeado Assessor do Ministro da Educação, Cultura e Desportos
De 1995 a 2002 foi Presidente da Federação de Voleibol
Foi professor no Instituto Superior da Educação no curso de Educação Física
De Abril de 2004 a Abril de 2008 desempenha a função no Governo como Secretário de Estado da Juventude e Desportos
Percurso Político
Pessoa discreta na política iniciou as actividades políticas cedo nos primórdios da independência, tendo participado de forma activa principalmente nas organizações da juventude.
Em 1987 é designado membro do Conselho deliberativo e substituto do Delegado de Governo de S. Nicolau
Eleito Municipal de 1996 a 2004.
Eleito Deputado da Nação, pelo círculo Eleitoral de S. Nicolau, em 2006.
Membro do Conselho nacional do PAICV
Eleito Presidente da Câmara Municipal do Município da Ribeira Brava a 18 de Maio de 2008.
Outras Funções
Presidente de Conselho da Administração da RTC, de 2001 a 2004.
