As famílias carenciadas do município da Ribeira Brava, principalmente aquelas dirigidas por mulheres, vão poder melhorar a sua dieta alimentar através do projecto Horta d’Casa que deverá, numa primeira fase, abarcar 50 famílias.


O projecto está virado para as famílias do meio rural de modo a proporcionar-lhes, igualmente, oportunidade de terem algum rendimento, assim como ajudar na inclusão das mulheres chefes de família tudo com o objectivo de lutar contra a pobreza no meio rural.
Basta que os interessados tenham um terreno de 200 metros quadrados nas proximidades da sua casa, e querendo, podem candidatar-se ao projecto e os contemplados terão um subsídio de água para a agricultura, sendo que a pretensão é que seja uma agricultura moderna baseada na rega gota-a-gota para produzir produtos que tenham impacto na dieta alimentar bem como na economia familiar uma vez que podem vender os excedentes e assim conseguir algum rendimento.
A edilidade pretende lançar este projecto ainda este ano e, numa fase experimental, atingir 50 famílias que vão ter um subsídio de 60 mil escudos ao ano, que comporta o pagamento de água para a rega (num total mensal nunca superior a 5 mil escudos), um kit para agricultura, seguimento de um técnico de agricultura e possivelmente de um nutricionista.
