Ribeira Brava, 25 de Abril. - Integrado no Plano de Actividades da Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava, teve lugar, no dia 23 de Abril, dia do Professor Cabo-verdiano, a cerimónia do lançamento da 1ª pedra para a construção de um imóvel que será a primeira residência estudantil a ser construída em São Nicolau, destinada a apoiar os estudantes oriundos de famílias economicamente mais débeis e que residem a vários quilómetros do Liceu. Trata-se de um edifício situado nas imediações do Liceu Baltasar Lopes da Silva, com dois pisos, sala de estudo, refeitório, gabinete de administração, lavandaria, instalações sanitárias e com 10 quartos com a capacidade para albergar 40 alunos. Presentes ao acto estiveram professores, eleitos municipais, chefes de serviços e muitos populares. Um aluno, originário do Carriçal, falou em nome dos colegas e enalteceu a importância de tal empreendimento não só na igualdade de oportunidades para os jovens mas também nas condições de alojamento que lhes garantirão uma maior economia de tempo para os estudos e também um melhor desempenho académico. O Director do Liceu aproveitou a oportunidade para saudar a classe do professorado em Cabo Verde e pôs em evidência a importância e a atenção que a actual Câmara Municipal vem dispensando à Educação no Município. Finalmente, o Presidente Américo Nascimento agradeceu a presença de todos e explicou as razões por que foi escolhido, precisamente, o dia do Professor Cabo-verdiano para o lançamento da primeira Pedra para a construção dessa infra-estrutura para acolhimento de alunos que muitas vezes interrompem os seus estudos devido à falta de um suporte com as funções de uma Residência Estudantil. Falou também no apoio que a Câmara vem dando no pagamento do transporte escolar e no subsídio aos estudantes do Ensino Superior no país o que justifica, sobremaneira, a construção deste edifício cujo projecto mereceu o financiamento por parte da Embaixada do Japão. Tratando-se de um investimento que virá valorizar a nossa cidade, aquele edil aproveitou para pedir a todos os que vierem a usufruir, directa ou indirectamente, deste empreendimento, que saibam dar-lhe o valor que merece visto tudo o que a Câmara Municipal vem fazendo é em prol do bem comum.
