Decorre desde o dia dia 26 de Março, uma formação de capacitação de Encarregado de Obras, promovida pela Comissão Regional de Parceiros de S. Nicolau e o Iinstituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional, em parceria com a Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava.
A formação tem como objectivo capacitar os actuais pedreiros para este sector da construção civil, promover e preparar potenciais encarregados para a construção civil, proporcionando-lhes competências nas atribuições específicas do encarregado de obras e na organização das tarefas dos operários da construção.
A formação vai permitir uma política de estabilidade no mercado de trabalho em São Nicolau que ainda tem “muita carência” na área da construção civil, principalmente neste sector.
A formação que desorre no Gabinete Técnico da Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava, tem uma carga horária de 205 horas, em regime pós-laboral, e conta com cerca de 20 formandos de várias localidades da ilha de S. Nicolau.

A aposta na construção civil, resulta da necessidade de reconstrução da ilha depois das chuvas que em 2009 que deixaram um “rasto de devastação”, tendo sido necessário intervir na recuperação de habitações sociais e de obras públicas.
