A Residência Estudantil Japão foi inaugurada sexta-feira pelo presidente da Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava, Américo Nascimento e pelo ministro conselheiro da Embaixada do Japão no Senegal, senhor Futaishi, em ambiente de festa com a presença da comunidade estudantil e chefes de serviços.
O acto de inauguração começou com o Hino Nacional, entoado pelos alunos do Ensino Básico Integrado da escola primária Luis Gominho, deixando o senhor Futaishi com um “sentimento de gratidão pelo caloroso acolhimento”.
Américo Nascimento, no seu discurso, expressou a gratidão da população da Ribeira Brava à Embaixada do Japão no Senegal e por consequência a todo o povo Japonês, com a atribuição do nome Japão à Residência Estudantil, simbolizando a cooperação entre o município e o povo nipónico.
O nome escolhido é, para o ministro conselheiro do Japão no Senegal um símbolo da amizade que une os dois povos, relembrando que Ribeira Brava já tinha beneficiado de doações japonesas em 2009, quando o concelho foi duramente atingido pelas chuvas.
A primeira pedra do Lar de Estudantes foi lançada a 23 de Abril de Outubro de 2011 e seis meses depois já se encontrava pronta para ser inaugurada, provando a inequívoca capacidade dos ribeira-bravenses de realizar obras de qualidade e prazos previamente estabelecidos.
Esta residência estudantil demonstra, a forte aposta no sucesso da educação no nosso Município, na certeza de que os investimentos nessa área representam investimentos no futuro deste município.
O presidente da Câmara, reforçou, por isso, que a “nossa vontade é de cada vez fazer mais e melhor para a educação no nosso município e não pouparemos esforços para esse efeito”.
A obra custou cerca de 16 mil contos, sendo co-financiada pela embaixada do Japão em 114.,836 euros (cerca de 12.662.000.00), Câmara Municipal 2.500.000.00 e Câmara de Ovar em 1.000.000.00. O edifício em si foi integralmente financiado pela embaixada, sendo que os trabalhos de escavação, levantamento do muro de suporte e preparação do terreno pelas Câmaras da Ribeira Brava e Ovar em Portugal, com quem a autarquia tem geminação.
A inauguração desta obra marca o início das actividades alusivas ao dia do Município da Ribeira Brava.
