A ministra da Educação e Desporto, Fernanda Marques, reconheceu o envolvimento e contributo do município da Ribeira Brava nas comemorações do Dia do Desporto Cabo-Verdiano 2012 com a entrega de uma taça à Câmara Municipal.
Fernanda Marques ficou convicta de que valeu a pena o sorteio que elegeu Ribeira Brava como anfitriã das actividades do Dia do Desporto 2012, enaltecendo o envolvimento de várias entidades, centrais e locais, que resultou numa sinergia que abrilhantou o programa.
Por sua vez, o presidente da Câmara Municipal, Américo Nascimento, agradeceu o MED, na pessoa da ministra, dizendo um muito obrigado pela ousadia e privilégio de Ribeira Brava receber, em duas semanas seguidas, actividades que engrandecem Cabo Verde, quais sejam o Fórum Cultural Nacional e o Dia do Desporto Cabo-Verdiano.
Américo Nascimento deixou uma saudação aos atletas que participaram nas competições de âmbito nacional, ciclismo e atletismo, em especial ao atleta Paulo Mota, que teve a infelicidade de, a 200 metros da meta, não ter conseguido cumprir o seu objectivo por razões fisiológicas.
“Paulo Mota merece todo o nosso respeito e admiração pelo empenho que incutiu a si mesmo de ganhar e mostrar que São Nicolau também tem atletas de valor”, elogiou o presidente.
O autarca incentivou todos aqueles que, de forma anónima, que se dedicam à prática do desporto a continuarem a dar o seu contributo para elevar o desporto e o nome do município mas também da ilha e do país além-fronteiras, com a edilidade como parceira para alcançar esta meta.
