Os executivos camarários dos dois municípios da ilha encontraram-se terça-feira, na Cidade do Tarrafal, por iniciativa do presidente da Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava, Américo Nascimento, com o propósito de discutir ponto comuns de interesse de desenvolvimento da ilha, e assim solucionar, conjuntamente, alguns problemas que afectam São Nicolau.
durante a reunião que durou cerca de uma hora de meia foram abordados três assuntos.
A água e o saneamento, na perspectiva de uma empresa intermunicipal, tendo como pressuposto os investimentos a serem realizados nesses dois sectores, enquadrado no segundo compacto do MCA, Transportes marítimos de e para a ilha de São Nicolau e a Transferência dos registos prediais com relação a prédios rústicos.
No domínio da água, o objectivo, segundo o autarca, é ter a empresa intermunicipal, e a nível do saneamento prende-se com o tratamento das águas residuais, com uma rede esgoto moderna, e o reaproveitamento das águas residuais para a agricultura.
Tendo em conta os fundos do segundo compacto MCA, que serão disponibilizados brevemente, há que aproveitar esse investimento assim como se fez no primeiro compacto virado para a agricultura.
No que concerne aos transportes marítimos de e para São Nicolau, Américo Nascimento entende que a resolução deste problema passa pela união de esforços das esferas, privada e pública, no sentido de dar vazão aos projectos para a agricultura e pecuária, mas também em relação à circulação de pessoas.
Relativamente à questão matricial, acontece que desde 2005, altura em que foi feita a divisão administrativa da ilha de São Nicolau, muitos registos prediais continuam na Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava em termos de matriz.
Mediante a disponibilização de um funcionário da Câmara Municipal do Tarrafal para fazer um levantamento de todos os prédios, os munícipes desse concelho terão a vida facilitada adquirindo as certidões matriciais directamente no seu município.
Fazendo um balanço deste que foi o primeiro encontro oficial entre as duas Câmaras Municipais neste novo mandato, o edil da Ribeira Brava garantiu que a reunião foi profícua, ficando o compromisso de encontros do género sempre que necessário, sendo o objectivo principal o desenvolvimento da ilha de São Nicolau.
“Temos de colocar a ilha de São Nicolau acima de tudo e todos, trabalhando de forma abnegada, independentemente da autonomia de cada município no que diz respeito ao seu desenvolvimento, unindo esforços nos assuntos esforços nos assuntos que lhes são comuns”, observou Américo Nascimento.
