Os melhores do desporto homenageados na IV Edição da Gala do Desporto

Foi com pompa e circunstância que os atletas que se destacaram no panorama desportivo na época 2011/2012 no município da Ribeira Brava foram homenageados na IV Edição da Gala do Desporto organizada pela Câmara Municipal.
Ao todo foram 20 os homenageados em várias modalidades, desde o andebol e o futebol, à ginástica e à acrobacia, sem esquecer um atleta de renome em São Nicolau, António dos Reis, mais conhecido por TU, que recebeu o trofeu de Mérito Desportivo, homenagem que foi o momento alto da noite.
Os atletas e dirigentes fizeram questão de agradecer a todos aqueles que os apoiaram na concretização dos seus desejos e felicitaram a Câmara Municipal pela iniciativa que tem vindo a reconhecer, publicamente, os meritórios esforços dos desportistas ribeira-bravenses.
E foi por isso que, para além de serem distinguidos os exímios atletas e dirigentes do futebol, do atletismo, do andebol e do hipismo também foram entregues certificados de reconhecimento aos grupos de aeróbica e de acrobacia pela iniciativa no seio da classe feminina e da juventude, respectivamente.
No seu discurso, o presidente Américo Nascimento, incentivou todos os desportistas, homenageados, ou não, a continuarem a apostar no desporto que, para além de trazer vantagens para a saúde, tem todo um potencial para desenvolver e levar o município além-fronteiras.
E com a IV Edição da Gala do Desporto fecha-se um ciclo neste ano de 2012, ano de muitas conquistas desportivas para o município e para a ilha, com o Sport Clube Atlético a conseguir o título de vice-campeão Nacional e o seu jogador, Gerson Lopes, Mandjaco arrecadou o prémio de Melhor Atleta Masculino.
No Atletismo, Sydney Livramento também se destacou como jovem promessa, a nível nacional, entre outras realizações.
Foi também este ano que Ribeira Brava foi palco das actividades comemorativas do Dia do Desporto Cabo-Verdiano e, no final, recebeu nota positiva da ministra da Educação e Desporto, Fernanda Marques.
