Américo Nascimento visita obras da barragem de Banca Furado

O presidente, Américo Nascimento visitou esta quarta-feira o local onde será construída a futura barragem de Banca Furado, na zona de Fajã e ficou satisfeito com o que viu naquela que será uma infraestrutura que vai revolucionar a agricultura no vale e na ilha.
A convite do delegado do Ministério do Desenvolvimento Rural (MDR), Adilson Melicio, o presidente inteirou-se do decorrer dos trabalhos que já passaram da fase de estudos para a fase das escavações dos terrenos.
Conforme garantiu o delegado, as obras de alvenaria deverão começar entre Abril e Maio pelo que se prevê que se vai estar a trabalhar de acordo com o prazo estipulado inicialmente de 22 meses, compreendendo os estudos inerentes ao projecto e as obras em si de alvenaria.
Américo Nascimento regozija-se disso e prespectiva as mudanças positivas que a infraestrutura vai trazer para o vale e para toda a ilha. No entanto o autarca está consciente de que ainda há problemas de escoamento de produtos que poderá agravar-se com o aumento da produção quando a barragem estiver em funcionamento.
Neste sentido, o edil reforçou que já estão a ser envidados esforços no sentido de debelar este problema. Está por isso na forja, o centro de pós-colheita e transformação no espaço onde seria o mercado de Fajã.
Em parceria com o MDR este projecto vai agregar valor aos produtos agrícolas que assim vão estar em condições para serem exportados a nível interno e externo, para além de os agricultores já estarem a trabalhar de forma organizada para porem os seus produtos fora da ilha, incrementando o agro-negócio.
Paralelamente à barragem, estão a ser construídos dois reservatórios que vao distribuir a água proveniente da barragem para dois lados do vale.
A barragem de Banca Furado está orçada em 600 mil contos, vai ter capacidade de albergar cerca de 300 mil metros cúbicos de água, irrigar 35 hectares de terra e garantir quase 190 postos de trabalho, durante a fase de construção deverá gerar cerca de 100 postos de trabalho.
