As obras do novo terminal de passageiros do aeroporto de preguiça terminam a 16 de Agosto, uma garantia dada pelo director de engenharias e infra-estruturas aeroportuárias da ASA, Nuno Santos.
Conforme Nuno Santos, quem estiver de férias nessa altura poderá ainda viajar a partir da infra-estrutura que é feita com base numa tecnologia flexível já que a estrutura é pré-fabricada e por isso mesmo tem um custo mais baixo em relação às estruturas comuns.
Por ter estas características, também será possível, caso se venha aumentar o tráfego do aeroporto as instalações poderão ser usadas para outros fins como por exemplo uma escola, um lar de idosos.
Não obstante, o terminal vai ter todas as características de um outro terminal qualquer preenchendo todos os requisitos aeroportuários exigidos.
Quando estiver pronto, a infra-estrutura que ocupa uma área útil de 600 metros quadrados vai ter todas as operações aeroportuárias exigidas, nomeadamente gabinetes para as companhias áreas, uma sala VIP, modernos sistemas de check-in e de tratamento de bagagens, assim como modernos sistemas de inspecção de bagagens de porão e de cabine e de passageiros.
Para além das obras do terminal também toda a área vai ser requalificada de modo a valorizar o projecto. Neste sentido, as antigas instalações vão ser requalificadas e doravante ficam como serviço de apoio ao terminal e de quartel de bombeiros, bem como toda a área circundante.
O projecto contempla ainda uma intervenção a nível da capacidade eléctrica com a instalação de um motor de emergência de um posto de transformação dando autonomia ao terminal e vai iluminar toda a área.
O projecto é financiado pela ASA e orçado em mais de cem mil contos.
