Excelentemente bem!...foi assim que o presidente da Câmara Municipal, Américo Nascimento classificou a visita que efectou a Holanda a convite da Associação Clube Recreativo Cultural de São Nicolau, formado por emigrantes radicados nesse país.
Durante uma semana e com uma agenda intensa, o presidente reuniu-se com a comunidade, um encontro muito frutífero realizado na Casa da Cultura do Consulado de Cabo Verde, no qual foram apresentadas principais as metas e desafios da edilidade até 2016.
Foi também oportunidade para serem apresentados dois projectos de âmbito social nas áreas da educação e do saneamento.
"Apresentamos um projecto de apadrinhamento de alunos e outro que vai ser lançado brevemente cujo nome é Uma Família, Uma Casa de Banho”, adiantou o presidente.
Segundo relata Américo Nascimento, as reuniões contaram com uma “presença expressiva” dos conterrâneos e também do Cônsul Geral de Cabo Verde.
Na mesma ocasião foram distinguidas com certificados de reconhecimento organizações que têm sido parceiras da Câmara Municipal, dando o seu contributo para o desenvolvimento do concelho e da ilha.
A saber, a ONG “Intercâmbios Internacional” que esteve na base de uma parceria com a edilidade na construção de dez moradias sociais na zona de Preguiça, com 50 por cento do financiamento necessário.
Foram distinguidas também o Centro Cultural e Recreativo de São Nicolau, o grupo musical Pau & Corda pela divulgação da cultura nacional, ao Clube Queimadas e também ao jogador da Selecção Nacional Josimar Lima.
A pedido da comunidade de Queimadas, Américo Nascimento que se fez acompanhar vereador da Cultura, Carlos Barbosa, encontrou-se com os emigrantes dessa comunidade para juntos discutirem a solução da questão do acesso e também de adução de água a essa localidade.
Houve tempo ainda para encontro com um grupo de empresários cabo-verdianos no sector da energia fotovoltaica no sentido de se efectivar uma parceria no âmbito da instalação de meios para a produção de energia fotovoltaica na Ribeira Brava.
