Executivo camarário visita tripulação do navio Kriola

O presidente Américo Nascimento esteve hoje de manhã, com parte da sua equipa, na cidade do Tarrafal para uma visita à tripulação do navio Kriola que acostou no porto daquela cidade na viagem inaugural da rampa roll-on/rol-off.
Natural da preguiça, o comandante Salvador Nunes fez as honras da casa mostrando o navio à equipa camarária da Ribeira Brava, juntamente com outros membros da tripulação, e curiosamente, o engenheiro António soares, chefe de máquinas, é também natural da Ribeira brava nascido na zona do Talho.
Quanto à rampa, este investimento do governo vem juntar-se a outra importante infraestrutura na área dos transportes, o novo terminal de passageiros do aeródromo de Preguiça, constituindo assim avanços consideráveis nos transportes na ilha de São Nicolau.
Depois desta viagem inaugural, a companhia Fast Ferry já agendou viagens quinzenais do Kriola no percurso Praia/São Nicolau e São Nicolau/Praia.
O ferry já regressou à Cidade da Praia, mas estará de volta ao porto do Tarrafal no próximo dia 27 de Novembro.
Para Américo Nascimento o dia de hoje simboliza um dia importante para a ilha, dado que esta é uma importante ligação com a Cidade da Praia que representa a oportunidade de São Nicolau se abrir para novos mercados, pelo que a autarquia vai continuar a dar todo o apoio institucional para que esta ligação continue.
“Isto porque queremos que a linha seja melhorada em termos de frequência, pois o impacto que vai ter na economia do município e da ilha é imensurável” diz o presidente.
O governo já anunciou a chegada dentro de semanas do navio Liberdadi, o que nas palavras do presidente, mostra que o poder central está a dar respostas as reivindicações do povo da ilha de Chiquinho.
“Ao mesmo tempo representa uma resposta do governo para enquadrar a ilha no contexto nacional em termos de romper com as amarras que têm a ver com a questão das ligações de e para São Nicolau, mas também a questão dos produtos que devem ser colocados noutros mercados”, frisou o autarca.
Nesta linha de pensamento, Américo Nascimento assegura que estão a ser criadas condições para que se produza cada vez mais na ilha, principalmente a nível a agricultura e da pecuária e poder assim colocar os produtos em mercados mais próximos, como as ilhas do Sal e da Boa Vista.
“Desta forma criaremos riquezas e será uma forma de debelar o desemprego através de investimentos que têm a ver com estas duas áreas”, conclui o edil ribeira-bravense.
Depois das ligações com a ilha da Santiago, a companhia Fast Ferry está agora a estudar as escalas com a ilha de São Vicente.
