V Gala do Desporto - Paulo Mota foi a personalidade da noite

Por quatro títulos, quatro vezes o atleta Paulo Mota foi o nome sonante da V Gala do Desporto que num verdadeiro desfile de atletas de várias modalidades reuniu os melhores da época 2012/2013 para serem distinguidos com pompa e circunstância pelo seu empenho e resultados conseguidos.
Com dados fornecidos pelas associações das várias modalidades desportivas praticadas no município os atletas premiados do atletismo, do andebol, do futebol, da acrobacia e também do voleibol ouviram o seu nome em várias categorias.
No atletismo, Paulo Mota foi premiado pelos vários títulos regionais e nacionais conseguidos durante um ano de trabalho árduo. Sempre brincalhão o atleta fez rir a plateia com os seus comentários.
Mas também fê-la silenciar-se quando, emocionado, não conteve as lágrimas no momento em que pela última vez na noite subiu ao placo para receber das mãos do presidente da Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava a distinção enquanto Campeão Nacional nos 1.500 metros.
Mota já tinha subido outras vezes ao palco para receber o prémio de Campeão Regional 5.000m, Campeão Regional 10.000m e Vice-campeão 5.000m.
Nesta categoria destacaram-se também Dainar Cabral (Campeã Regional Feminino 100m); Sidney Livramento (Campeão Regional Masculino 100m), Adérito Ascensão (Campeão Regional 1.500m), Teles Pereira (Melhor Treinador) e Alíria Rodrigues (Atleta Revelação).
No andebol as equipas, feminina e masculina, da AJS levaram o título de equipa campeã regional. Elber do rosário foi o Melhor Marcador Masculino, Liliana Gomes a Melhor Marcadora Feminino. Kelly Cabral foi a Melhor Atleta Feminino e Erita Silva a Melhor Guarda-Redes.
Na modalidade do futebol a equipa da Académica de Preguiça destacou-se, já que o Melhor Jogador, o Melhor Marcador e o Melhor Treinador da época desportiva passada pertenceram a dois jogadores dessa formação, sendo eles Jorge Lopes e Jandir Rodrigues (Ban) e ao treinador José Ramos, respectivamente.
A distinção de Melhor Equipa foi também para a Micá.
A Equipa Fair-play foi o Sport Clube Atlético, clube de onde saiu o Melhor Guarda-redes, Nuno Gabriel.
Jaime Figueiredo, conhecido por todos como Djimmy, foi o Melhor Árbitro.
O grupo Acrobatas da Ribeira Brava foi galardoado pelo excelente trabalho que tem vindo a fazer, assim como a Rádio Televisão Comunitária da Ribeira Brava, como Melhor Órgão de Comunicação Social e o colaborador José Firmino como Melhor Animador Desportivo foram merecedores de uma distinção pelo trabalho feito ao longo do ano na valorização do desporto, principalmente o futebol.
A grande novidade este ano foi o Voleibol, modalidade promovida pelo Centro da Juventude que também mereceu um diploma de reconhecimento. Nesta categoria foram distinguidas as equipas campeãs do campeonato, masculino e feminino, Stancha D’Boche e Lombona.
