MDR e CMRB assinam protocolo para execução de furos para unidade dessalinizadora

O Ministério do Desenvolvimento Rural e a Câmara Municipal assinaram um protocolo que visa a execução de dois furos para captação de água do mar para a unidade dessalinizadora de Preguiça cuja inauguração está prevista para o mês de Março.
O acto da assinatura aconteceu esta quinta-feira no Centro de Extensão em Fajã e com o protocolo o MDR vai fazer a perfuração de dois furos de 90 metro de profundidade que vão permitir, assim que a dessalinizadora entrar em funcionamento, aumentar a água para o consumo em todo o município e também na ilha, já que é intenção ter uma empresa intermunicipal de água.
Para a ministra Eva Ortet, o MDR tem todo o interesse em fazer este protocolo com a Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava tendo em conta a política do ministério que visa a mobilização de água e a modernização da agricultura.
Eva Ortet lembra que a dessalinizadora vai produzir, diariamente, cerca de 1000 metros cúbicos de água, o que vai libertar a água das nascentes representando um aumento das áreas irrigadas e consequentemente o aumento das oportunidades empreendedoras e a diminuição da pobreza.
“O objectivo é que a água do consumo seja dessalinizada e assim ter a água das nascentes para a produção agrícola e que deve ter um preço competitivo para que haja melhor produção”, explicou a governante.
No protocolo ora assinado a contrapartida da edilidade ribeira-bravense é que liberte a água das nascentes para a prática da agricultura o que vai trazer grandes impactos neste sector.
Américo Nascimento, por sua vez, frisou que se trata de um projecto importante, mas ao mesmo tempo difícil já que o financiamento existente garante apenas a unidade em si e sua entrada em funcionamento.
O presidente explica que a captação da água não deve ser directa mas sim através de furos para que tenha melhor qualidade daí a necessidade e a importância deste protocolo.
“Temos tido alguns constrangimentos que não fazem parte da nossa responsabilidade, e estando agora na sua fase final, com um ritmo muito exigente e intensivo, na qual se enquadra a execução dos dois furos, temos pilotado pessoalmente este projecto que vai beneficiar todo o município e a ilha”, frisou o edil.
E é nesta senda que tudo está a ser feito para a inauguração da infra-estrutura esteja enquadrado nas comemorações do Dia Mundial da Água, e nesse caso seria a 23 de Março próximo.
No dia alusivo à efeméride seria para a inauguração da primeira fase da sede do Serviço Autónomo de Água.
