“Ganhámos a nossa segunda liberdade” – foi com esta afirmação que o presidente da Câmara, Américo Nascimento, começou a sua intervenção na primeira viagem do fast ferry Liberdadi a São Nicolau, o qual foi recebido em ambiente de festa no porto do Tarrafal.


Com a chegada deste navio que vai fazer a ligação entre as ilhas de Santo Antão, São Vicente e São Nicolau, as auto-estradas do desenvolvimento das ilhas começam a ser estruturadas defendeu o presidente num discurso emocionado fez-se ouvir em alto e bom som pelos que não quiseram perder a recepção do navio.
Num cenário que se pode classificar de um encontro familiar, Kriola e Liberdadi, como dois irmãos, estiveram acostados no porto do Tarrafal mostrando que o tão falado isolamento de São Nicolau tem os dias contados.
Por isso mesmo torna-se premente aproveitar estas oportunidades e fazer com que os produtos de São Nicolau cheguem a outros mercados dinamizando assim a economia local, aconselhou Américo Nascimento, que frisou a importância da união daqueles que trabalham neste sector.
O navio Liberdadi tem capacidade para transportar 164 passageiros e vai garantir viagens semanais entre São Nicolau e São Vicente e a partir da ilha do Monte Cara vai para Santo Antão em viagens diárias.
