O presidente, Américo Nascimento encara de forma normal a pretensão de Ribeira Brava em querer ter o melhor carnaval de Cabo verde e defende que esta ambição não é tabu.
No acto de abertura da IV edição do Fórum Nacional do Carnaval “Carnavaleando” que decorreu entre 02 e 05 de Novembro nos dois concelhos da ilha, o autarca frisou que o Carnaval é um dos aspectos fundamentais da identidade e cultura de São Nicolau.
“O primeiro nem sempre é o maior, mas sim o primeiro é aquele que consegue vencer independentemente do tamanho, aquele que consegue com qualidade, de modo que a pretensão de Ribeira Brava ter o melhor Carnaval de Cabo Verde não pode ser visto como um tabu, mas como um direito próprio”, disse.
Na sua alocução, Américo Nascimento lembrou o engajamento da Câmara Municipal que tem tando dado o seu melhor para que o Carnaval seja uma “grande evento cultural” no município da Ribeira Brava, sendo o mérito dos fazedores da festa.
“Eu tenho dito que com ou sem apoios da câmara municipal com certeza que haverá Carnaval na Ribeira Brava, isto para mostrar que o Carnaval não depende da edilidade, embora tenhamos a obrigação de tudo fazer para que esse “grande evento cultural” seja cada vez mais projectado”, precisou.
E para que o Carnaval continue a ser uma marca de Ribeira Brava e São Nicolau, o presidente garantiu que a edilidade vai manter os apoios concedidos no ano passado, como forma de incentivar os grupos a apresentarem uma festa cada vez melhor, não obstante a situação económica difícil da presente conjuntura.
