São Nicolau: Apoios chegam a conta-gotas na Ribeira Brava

Ribeira Brava, 08 Out (ASemana) - Duas semanas após cheias que destruíram a Vila da Ribeira Brava (São Nicolau) as autoridades contabilizam ainda os montantes necessários para recuperar aquele município. No terreno já estiveram membros do governo e da Câmara Municipal, representantes do Instituto de Estradas e da Cruz Vermelha, e todos são unânimes em afirmar que os estragos são incalculáveis.
Enquanto isso, as promessas das instituições, serviços e pessoas individuais bem como as muitas campanhas de solidariedade, no país e na diáspora, ainda não se traduziram em resultados concretos para as localidades e pessoas afectadas.
“As ajudas ainda são muito tímidas. Recebemos alguns alimentos de primeira necessidade, enviados por amigos de São Nicolau residentes em São Vicente, que foram distribuídos na Covoada e no Carriçal. Também temos recebido algumas apoios individuais, que vão nos ajudando a minimizar a situação”, explica Américo Nascimento, presidente da Câmara da Ribeira Brava, que aproveita para agradecer o apoio da CM do Tarrafal e dos jovens auto-organizados que vieram dos locais de residência para socorrer a Vila.
Mas continuam a faltar braços e meios humanos. Exactamente por isso, na passada terça-feira, o executivo camarário da Ribeira Brava reuniu-se para avaliar a situação e conclui que os estragos resultantes das cheias são avultadíssimos. “A Câmara Municipal não tem poupado esforços no sentido de minimizar a situação com intervenções rápidas no terreno e com os equipamentos possíveis, evitando danos maiores, principalmente na Ribeira Brava”.
A prioridade ainda é desobstruir os acessos à Vila da Ribeira Brava e às localidades. "Fica-nos difícil contabilizar os investimentos necessários para fazer as obras. Não queremos atirar números ao acaso. Não queremos fazer alarme e estamos a fazer o impossível para, através do governo e de outras entidades, mobilizar recursos, mas a recuperação da Ribeira Brava é para muitos anos”.
