Embaixadora dos Estados Unidos da América visita São Nicolau

Ribeira Brava, 2 Fev - De 27 a 29 de Janeiro do ano em curso, esteve de visita oficial à ilha de São Nicolau, a Embaixadora dos Estados Unidos da América, a Senhora Marianne M. Myles. A referida visita tinha sido programada para os primeiros dias de Agosto mas foi adiada em virtude da visita a Cabo Verde da Senhora, Hillary Clinton, Secretária de Estado dos Estados Unidos.

 

visita_embaixadora_usa.jpgSensibilizada pela situação passada pelas fortes chuvas que assolaram São Nicolau, aquela Embaixadora financiou, através da Cruz Vermelha de Cabo Verde, a aquisição de utensílios domésticos para minimizar os prejuízos causados pelas cheias a algumas famílias deste município.

Acompanhada pelo Presidente da Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava, Américo Nascimento, esteve presente em Queimadas e na Vila da Ribeira Brava onde, pessoalmente, ao lado de um alto dirigente da Cruz vermelha, Coronel Amílcar Baptista, fez a entrega simbólica dos donativos.

Visitou o Parque Natural do Monte Gordo tendo manifestado a sua admiração pelas gentes e pela beleza natural de uma ilha que a encantou e que a atrai para novas visitas.
