Ribeira Brava, 2 Fev - No dia 30 de Janeiro do ano de 2010, na Vila do Tarrafal, numa iniciativa dos dois presidentes das Câmaras Municipais e unanimemente aplaudida por todos os componentes das duas edilidades, reuniram-se, pela primeira vez, numa sessão conjunta, as duas Câmaras Municipais da Ribeira Brava e do Tarrafal de São Nicolau, respectivamente, com o objectivo de discutirem e accionarem mecanismos para a resolução de assuntos estruturantes e comuns aos dois municípios, isto é: a ÁGUA, a ENERGIA e os TRANSPORTES MARÍTIMOS.
Numa clara e concisa intervenção, Américo Nascimento começou por fazer alusão à situação geoestratégica da ilha de São Nicolau em relação às outras, da diferença entre o clima social vivido antes e o presente, do espírito empreendedor que deve animar todo o Sanicolaense, da confiança que os actores políticos devem transmitir à população e da esperança-certeza que cada um deve depositar no desenvolvimento harmonioso da ilha de São Nicolau o qual passará, forçosamente, pela revolução que se pretende a nível dos 3 sectores ora em debate.
Entrando no capítulo ÁGUA, falou-se das várias acções já desenvolvidas visando o aumento da quantidade e da qualidade desse indispensável líquido. Considerou-se esse ser precioso como sendo a vida na verdadeira acepção da palavra e achou-se imperioso que cada família tenha água suficiente e de qualidade, que cada agricultor sinta o prazer de ver o seu chão a produzir, que os mercados estejam bem fornecidos e que o excedente encontre meios para um escoamento sustentadoConsiderando a ENERGIA um dos grupos de maior potência para o desenvolvimento de qualquer sociedade, discutiu-se, amplamente, a situação actual da ilha, tendo-se chegado à conclusão que São Nicolau é das ilhas do arquipélago mais bem servidas a nível do abastecimento de energia eléctrica, apesar da rede não ser de boa qualidade e de haver ainda focos não contemplados devido, não só a dificuldade de acesso mas também a distância que os separa da central. São os casos de Fragata, Ribeira Prata, Covoada e Carriçal;
O Capítulo TRANSPORTES MATÍTIMOS foi animadamente debatido, tendo em conta o seu papel no desenvolvimento económico e ligação da ilha de S. Nicolau com as restantes ilhas do país e com o mundo.Para constar, como súmula do encontro, elaborou-se o documento, aprovado pelas duas edilidades, que se designou como DECLARAÇÃO DO TARRAFAL.
