Ribeira Brava, 07 de Novembro. - A convite do Presidente da Câmara, Américo Nascimento, estiveram de visita ao Município da Ribeira Brava, os embaixadores do Brasil e da União Europeia, respectivamente a Senhora Dulce Barros e o Senhor Josep Coll, de 29 de Outubro a 01 de Novembro.
A Senhora embaixadora do Brasil, Dulce Barros, que visitava a ilha de S. Nicolau pela primeira vez, ficou extremamente satisfeita com a execução dos trabalhos do projecto de dessalinização, localizado na localidade de Preguiça, já na sua fase final de execução. O projecto é financiado pelo Fundo IBAS (Índia, Brasil e África do Sul), através das Nações Unidas, num montante de um milhão e seiscentos mil dólares. A Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava está a envidar esforços junto das Nações Unidas e do Governo para o financiamento da execução dos trabalhos de adução da água a ser produzida pela dessalinizadora, no trajecto Preguiça/Calejão, numa distância de cerca de 7 Km.
O Senhor embaixador da União Europeia, Josep Coll, visitou os trabalhos enquadrados no projecto PRS II (programa solar II), ou seja trabalhos executados em antigos furos de prospecção de água em Campo Preguiça, Figueira de Coche, Juncalinho, Ribeirãozinho e Estância de Brás, que consistiam na colocação de painés solares e sistemas de bombagem de água, bem como a construção de pequenos reservatórios. O Senhor embaixador ficou muito agradado pela forma como os projectos foram executados.
Recorde-se que a Câmara Municipal tem um ambicioso programa municipal de água que vem executando desde o início do seu mandato, com resultados extremamente positivos. A crise de água por que passava o Município até 2008 foi ultrapassada, graças ao enorme investimento realizado nesse sector pela Câmara Municipal e pelo Governo.
