O presidente da Câmara Municipal reuniu-se com operadores turísticos locais para discutirem a situação do sector tendo como objectivo delinear estratégias que permitam dar um salto qualitativo no turismo e consequentemente na economia local.

No encontro de Reflexão Sobre o Turismo Local, estiveram quase 30 pessoas, entre responsáveis de agências de viagens, pensões, artesãos, produtores de aguardente e também do Parque Natural do Monte Gordo e da Agência Empresarial para o Desenvolvimento e Inovação (ADEI).

Das várias questões trazidas à mesa, sobressaiu a problemática escala de transportes aéreos e marítimos, de e para São Nicolau, sendo que sobre último ficou claro que o real desenvolvimento do município e da ilha passam por um transporte regular de mercadorias e passageiros.

Isto porque, concordaram os intervenientes na reunião, os preços e escalas dos transportes aéreos, ora praticados, são muito pouco convidativos.

Outrossim ficou expressa a necessidade de se fazer a sinalização dos sítios de atração turística e também de lazer de modo a orientar aqueles que desconhecem o município mas que são amantes do tracking e querem descobrir os encantos de Ribeira Brava.

Das várias propostas discutidas chegou-se à conclusão de que é preciso a união entre os vários sectores que fazem o turismo no concelho.

Várias ideias fluíram neste que foi o primeiro Encontro de Reflexão sobre o Turismo Local, já que ficou o compromisso de se estabelecer a periodicidade de uma reunião de três em, três meses para se discutirem os problemas, encontrar soluções e ver que contributos cada um pode dar para melhorar o turismo no concelho o que terá impactos directos na economia local.
